Multidisciplinary Communication Designer
Hello! My name is Jake, I have a BFA degree in Communication Design from College For Creative Studies and have freelanced for over 7+ years.
I’m a freelance multidisciplinary designer specializing in branding, creative direction, and visual storytelling.Working statewide and in the local Detroit, MI area. For many years, I’ve worked closely with clients to transform briefs into thoughtful, effective design solutions—whether that means solving branding challenges or navigating production constraints.
What sets me apart is my range across multiple creative disciplines. In addition to graphic design, I’m also a videographer and editor, and I regularly create motion design work that enhances digital content. This combination allows me to develop cohesive visual systems that translate seamlessly across print, video, and online platforms.
My wife Hailey and I launched a creative partner studio called Collective 210, a collaborative space where different creative disciplines come together to solve visual challenges. Through the studio, we explore projects that span video, photography, and design while building a community of creatives working toward shared ideas.
Throughout my freelance career, I’ve collaborated with musical artists, nonprofits, and small businesses—providing art direction, branding, and promotional content. These experiences have led to opportunities ranging from emerging startups to independent coffee franchises in Los Angeles. I’m currently focused on expanding my work with clients both locally in Detroit, MI and across the country. I enjoy the challenge of researching different cultures, scenes, and communities to ensure design work feels authentic and representative of the people it serves.
As a multidisciplinary designer, I combine graphic design, videography, and motion design to deliver cohesive, engaging content across digital platforms. My goal with every project is to represent the client truthfully while bringing a sense of soul and intention to the final design.
I’d love the opportunity to collaborate.
